Sara Duterte’s office to distribute food packs, water to quake victims

Vice President Sara Duterte will launch her own relief assistance operation for communities affected by the recent powerful earthquake.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced plans to distribute food packs and water to the quake survivors.

“The Office of the Vice President, through the OVP-Disaster Operations Center (DOC), will distribute bottled drinking water and dining/food starter sets for residents affected by the July 27 earthquake in Abra,” Atty. Reynold Munsayac said in a statement.

“The OVP-DOC is now coordinating with other government agencies and volunteer groups to ensure immediate and orderly distribution of the above-mentioned relief items,” he said.

A 7.0-magnitude earthquake struck northern Philippines last Wednesday, triggering landslides, damaged buildings, and power interruptions. The tremor was felt in Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently visited Abra, center of the quake, and ordered swift rescue and relief operations in tremor-hit communities.
